Cookies and what your browser keeps

Ludoran uses only what it needs to keep you signed in, keep your account safe and remember your settings. There are no advertising, analytics or social media cookies, and nothing that follows you to other websites. Last updated 24 October 2026.

Cookies we set

NameWhat it's forHow long
lt_adminKeeps lecturers and staff signed in. It holds a random sign-in key; we keep only a scrambled (hashed) copy, so it can't be read back from our side. It ends after 12 hours without use, and in any case after 14 days.Up to 14 days
lt_deviceRecognises a browser you've signed in on before, so we can tell you when your account is used on a new device. It holds a random number, not who you are.About 13 months

Both are essential: the site can't keep you signed in or warn you about a new sign-in without them. They're marked so scripts can't read them (HttpOnly), are only sent over a secure connection, and aren't sent when another website links to us (SameSite).

Cookies from our security provider

The site runs behind Cloudflare, which protects it from attacks. Cloudflare may set short-lived security cookies (for example __cf_bm or cf_clearance) to tell people from bots. They don't identify you and aren't used for advertising. See Cloudflare's cookie list.

What your browser keeps (not cookies)

Some settings are saved in your own browser's storage so the site remembers them on this device: light or dark mode, sound and music volume, your class filters, unsent drafts, tour steps you've finished, and, for students who choose “remember me”, a sign-in key for their class. Lecturers who sign in through the university's sign-in also keep that sign-in here. None of this is sent to anyone else, and none of it is used to track you.

Students in class

Students don't need an account or any cookie to join a class: the class link and their student ID are enough. Nothing is stored on a student's phone unless they choose “remember me”.

Do I need to agree to anything?

No. Privacy laws (including Australia's Privacy Act, South Africa's POPIA and the EU and UK rules) don't need your consent for cookies a site needs to work, and we use no others. That's why there's no cookie banner. If we ever add anything optional, such as usage statistics, we'll ask first and you can say no.

Clearing them

You can delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings at any time. You'll be signed out and your settings on that device will reset, but nothing in your classes is lost.
